Website, Database and Marketing Report Oct-Nov 2009
Computerbank's Plone website
- Revamped the Roster pages to a single page ROSTER. The Roster page now has four or so weeks of forward roster. This means you can put in your availability up to 16th January 2010. Volunteers are encouraged to use this page. It makes a huge difference to how we plan volunteer activities at Computerbank. We will happily show you how to use the ROSTER page if you are uncertain :)
- Revamped the To Do List Reporting and Feedback page to a folder with a separate page for each report. The To Do LIst Reporting and Feedback page is now called Coordinator's Reports.
- The old content from the Roster and To Do List Reporting and Feedback pages can be found as files under Coordinators Reports/Archives.
- These revamps should make things easier to find and increase the stability of the site. The roster page alone was a scroll down of over 30 pages. (It had some dodgy cut and pasted code in it)
- Plone backed up.
To Do
Upgrade Plone. Our current version is Plone 3.2.3. released July 09. There have been three minor Plone releases since then. The latest release is 3.3.2 released Nov 09
Gaiden database using Glom and PostgreSQL
Issues:
- CBV numbers now have the comma removed. Thanks Patrick
- Request to change $AUD to $ has been done. Thanks Patrick
- Request to add more options to the "How did you hear about Computerbank" field. This was already possible. Note: Apart from the four options listed you can type in manually any additional option as they occur.
- Automatic backups to Ada. Thanks Patrick.
Requests to add a field for the distro version and to add a field for the type of optical media.
To Decide
We need to decide if our Gaiden database should go into our server rack area. Currently we switch Gaiden on when we need it. If it was put in the server rack it would be on 24 hours a day as is everything else in the Server Rack.
Marketing
The promotional flyer and tearoff sheet have been updated with our new opening hours.
- Flyers and tearoff sheets posted to 9 local organisations on Friday 25th November.
- 27th November sent Eastern Radio 98.1 a Computerbank community announcement. This station caters to the outer Eastern suburbs and has an older easy listening type audience. (I met a former ABC colleague who broadcasts At 98.1)
Send Magic FM a Christmas Card from Computerbank then following this up in early January with another Community Announcement.
A dozen or so address labels are ready to send out to more organisations in early January.
