Coordinators Report for September 09
General News
Another slow but steady month with 34 (36) computers distributed to low income people. Some free computers were also given away.
It has been busy in many other ways. The main thing is the release of the long awaited Jaunty Computerbank Ubuntu distribution. We are dropping use of KDE 4 in favor of Gnome. KDE is still an option if people would like to use it. The user guide and some buildroom documentation has been updated to reflect the change.
It is hoped that Jaunty will work better with 3G USB broadband modems. We have a little utility to activate some of the newer modems, a how to needs to be written.
Despite a few teething issues, we are already receiving positive feedback about the new system. Thanks to all our testers, and to Jan for spurring people on. Keep the feedback coming via our issue tracker at http://code.google.com/p/computerbank/issues/list.
Dave Hall let us know that our computers featured in the Newstead newsletter. Another recipient has recently emailed to say they have been able to write a book and enter a competition all because of the PC he received from Computerbank.
This month we received donations from Cengage Education and many individuals. The warehouse is still quite full!
We will have a build evening this Saturday night (complete with pizza) so we can try and replenish some of our stock. October has been very busy, 22 computers out the door and it is only the 12th!

Last but not Least
I joined the ubuntu forums recently (again) and had a good read of the code of conduct. It probably would not hurt for others to look at it again. See here for info: http://ubuntuforums.org/index.php?page=policy and also the general Ubuntu code of conduct at http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct
