Coordinators Report for April and May 2009
General News
Despite being closed over Easter, April was quite a busy month with 42 computers out the door. In May we gave out 52 computers. St Albans Community Support and Assistance Program Inc (SACSAP) received three laptops to help African immigrants learn English. A desktop and a laptop were given to Second Bite. Second Bite redistribute good food to needy groups like refuges. Footscray flats look as though they are about to come online and the Holmes St Flats computer room is almost ready.
Jan and Bill went along to the launch of the Flemington Neighbourhood renewal project. Computerbank has offered to help out with computers and services for the project.
Work for the Dole participation has picked up over the last few weeks, we have four keen new starters who are regularly attending and contributing. For a while there the WFD program was like a ghost town.
May ebay sales must have hit a record - $1493.83 for the month. Nice work David! It is great to see those crusty old and broken laptops moving out the door quickly.
Amendment (added 9/06/09): Big thanks to Richard for painting up a storm during April. I forgot to include this earlier - mainly because I thought I wrote about it in a previous report. Sorry Richard and once again many thanks to you for your efforts.
Welcome to new volunteers, Igor, Dan, Laura, and Mark. Igor and Laura have been helping out in the buildroom, great to see some more females around the place. Dan has been wonderful for front desk and Mark will be helping train and support our new Linux users. Big hello to Igor and Barry - both have been recovering at home with ailments.
Last thing don't forget the brainstorming meeting on June 19th. Work for the Dole ends in August so we need to assess our position and work out what the future can hold. Come along, contribute and have your say.
