User Support Report November 2005
We have had a few support issues in the last month.
Some extended support issues with people like Flora, David etc,
Internet Connection Issues: We have had a few of these, a couple easily
fixed, and a couple not easily fixed, from one user support job we
found out that the user had messagebank messages and the telstra
dialtone to warn of messages was making it impossible for the modem to
connect. Also we had issues with a Bigpond Cable account and the user
being unable to edit the bpalogin.conf file after Bigpond changed her
password.
Dead HDD and Corrupted Systems, we have again had our share of these,
but we may be able to negate many of these issues with a new Boot-Up
Refreshuser Option on all our machines, I would like to than Ed for his
work on this.
Dead HDD look like being a continueing problem, we can do more
extensive hdd checking, as per the email Kylie sent, but I'm not sure
how much that will help, it should weed out some of the worst hdd's
though.
Printer Issues. We have had a couple of these, some of which Kylie
tells me could have been sorted out by going thru a checklist of things
the user has done, such as checking various settings and if they have
read the printer section of the user manual.
Users having troubles getting their computers running, we had two of
these on Friday that were actually user end problems, but we have had
the odd machine that has died between QA and the Recip getting home.
We have also replaced some older machines for users and upgraded a few that came back broken.
