Documentation and Websites Report July 2005
Documentation
Membership information:
Member details have been copied from a paper based system into a spreadsheet. This is located on the Front Desk computer. Ultimately this should go onto a database on the Computerbank Network.
The following forms have been updated and revised to take account of people from non English speaking backgrounds.
- Individual Application form - the birth date has been removed and replaced with a date range to be less intrusive. (This may impact on the database - however I notice 1950 seem to be used as the default if the birthdate is not known so it may not be an issue.)
- Individual Information Sheet - streamlined.
- User Support Policy - streamlined
- Printer guide - updated printers and streamlined
- Quality Assurance Guide - updated with new distro details
These documents are on the Front desk computer /home/recption/2005_admin_forms/.
Websites
Plone:
2nd August Update
Cleared spam out of the wiki on our Plone site. This can
be an ongoing problem with the wiki. We have so many wiki pages.
Spammers have many entry points. We might have to make the wiki
subscriber only.
Added a tab in the top navigation bar pointing to the wiki on the Plone site.
Realigned items on the Shop page.
Silva:
An update for the Silva documentation site is due out in early September.
This will have:
Versioning of documents and a new print css and email options on each page.
The ability to add dynamic elements from a relational database.
Any text can be cut and pasted into the Kupu editor.
Silva can be configured to automatically send email to authors and editors for workflow events.
It
is possible for end users to subscribe to web pages. They will get an
email message sent to them automatically when a new version of the page
gets published.
