Date Sunday 21st March Agenda - Introduction of New members, project briefing. Minutes Kylie covered some background for the information of the new people, and finished by explaining that the Print Museum had offered us space in their new premises at Mephan Street, Footscray, for six months. Kylie reported that she had been contacted by Brendon Harkin of NOIE, a government body which funds organisations like ours, and is the funding source for Multimedia Victoria. Kylie reported about Community Information Victoria . Kylie raised the matter of insurance - public liability & personnel cover. This is to be raised with our legal source when we get one. Kylie reported that, following the article in the Age last week, she has had several expressions of interest in donating equipment and volunteering. Several of these contacts said they had access to PCs for donation. Some of the contacts were from prospective recipients, including a community group in a rural area asking for assistance with a small network. It was thought that we might be able to do this in three to six months. The meeting discussed methods of dealing with requests for computers, including establishing a response method. It was decided that, for the pilot project at least, prospective recipients should make a written submission regarding their request. Pilot Project Draft Design: Start Date: 1 April 1999 Stage 1a: Written Submissions from prospective recipients to be assessed This design to be written up separately and posted to the mailing list. Discussion was held on the draft Constitution, some minor changes were made and typos corrected. Peter Eckersley moved that we accept this as the final constitution. Seconded Kylie Davies. Carried. Patricia Fraser moved that the Statement of Purposes for Incorporation be as presented to PILCH, ie. the Vision statement from the website added to the Objectives from the Constitution. Seconded Peter Eckersley. Carried. Patricia to take docs and incorporate 22/3/99. The meeting discussed the potential for renting premises, particularly a house or shop front, including the potential problems inherent in a commercial lease. We require legal information and will put this on the list to present to our legal person when we get one. Peter Eckersley reported to the meeting regarding the Age article on CB. The next meeting will be announced via the mailing list. The meeting closed at 4pm. |
