PNG Project
Over the 11th and 12th of November, Work for the Dole program participants, volunteers, and staff put in an amazing effort to put together 20 computers heading for Papua New Guinea.
The 20 computers will be used for an Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team (AMURT) PNG Inc project. The computers will be set up in a shipping container that has been converted into a computer training facility. The facility will be placed at the Gerehu Provincial High School in Port Moresby. The computers will be used to help the children acquire computer skills. See this website for more information and pictures of the container.
Software installed on the customised Knoppix systems included Openoffice, KTouch (typing tutor), Konqueror file manager, The GIMP, an assortment of games, and, Internet tools among other things.
